About Water Matters

We have always been drawn to water. On waves, ice, and snow, we have experienced our greatest adventures – and that is where we still draw our inspiration.

But we have also felt a strong urge to direct that energy towards something bigger. To actually take action.

Even as youngsters, we founded Lonka Boardclub and Lonka Love. With boards on the roof, we drove to Klitmøller, Denmark, to hold surf camps for young people. We sold custom-designed t-shirts and donated the surplus to sewing machines at a women's center in Benin. A little later, we came across a batch of Klean Kanteen bottles – which were sold to benefit a well in Malawi.

Those projects ignited something in us. A passion for creating positive change. We learned the importance of community and commitment – and that laid the foundation for what is today Water Matters.

We have seen what water does to people when it is absent. But above all, what it provides when it is present. Clean water is the foundation for health, education, and the opportunity for every human being to control their own life.

Around us, we have a large network of people who share the same conviction – that water truly matters. We believe in walking together. And having fun along the way.
